Widely used for edging and hedging, giving a more formal look with it’s small leaves and neat appearance. Adaptable to growing in sun or shade in any soil, left to grow unchecked has a soft and billowing appearance. The best shrub for topiary shapes, e.g. globes, pyramids etc.

Easy to grow including where ocean wind and salt spray are a problem and fairly drought tolerant. Blooms better in full sun but can tolerate shade. A good lawn substitute where it can be kept fairly low (1.5-2’). Has small spines so not to be used near walkways.

California’s strongest, dense, tall hedge, reaching 25’. Roots are only invasive when not watered or clipped frequently. Grow in full sun to partial shade.

A darker green hedge than Ficus and never reaching a height of more than 12’. Occasional white flowers, fragrance described as “pleasant” to “unpleasant”. They need ample water to flourish and grow in full sun to partial shade.

Evergreen shrubby vines in a wide variety of colors suitable for informal hedging, sprawling ground cover and training over arbors. Thrives in heat in all soils and once established blooms profusely with little water. A big-scale plant, which can ramble through a fence of any height, creates a striking Mediterranean statement.

Showy, spreading vine with pink, puffy flowers. Can be effectively trained as a hedge, growing to 10’ or more. Best in full sun to partial shade in well-draining soils.
